Upcoming Policy and Advocacy Events From Equality Arizona
Join Equality Arizona for opportunities to engage directly with state legislators and learn about progress towards federal non-discrimination protections
The legislative session is moving quickly, so heading into February we wanted to share a preview of some of the big events we have planned. Like every year, we’ll be hosting Equality Lobby Day, a chance to meet personally with your legislators to discuss policy that affects you and the LGBTQ+ community. Earlier in the month, you can join us for our first monthly town hall; we’ll be hosting these with some great guests on a range of important civic and political issues. Read on to learn more and sign up for these events!
Town Hall: Equality and Fairness for All Americans
Wednesday, February 16 at 5:00 PM | Register for the Online Event
Join Equality Arizona and panelists from the Equality and Fairness for all Americans Coalition for a town hall on federal non-discrimination protections. As members of this coalition, we firmly believe there is a path forward together in an effort to pass landmark legislation within the next year to bring federal non-discrimination protections to millions of Americans in employment, education, housing, credit, jury service, and public accommodations.
Equality Lobby Day: Online and in Person
Wednesday, February 23 at 8:30 AM | Register for the Hybrid Event
Each year, Equality Lobby Day is our biggest opportunity for face-to-face communication between members of the Arizona legislature and LGBTQ+ communities across the state. Divisive and discriminatory bills flourish because they are able to exacerbate and exploit division, which is why it’s so important to sit down, person-to-person, and seek understanding. This year we’re piloting a hybrid approach; with covid risks still a concern, we wanted to find a way to get back to the capitol without leaving anyone behind. Whether you attend online or in-person, you’ll have access to the same meetings and activities. In the week leading up to the event, we’ll host trainings on policy, advocacy, and the specifics of the legislative session. Make sure to register soon to stay up to date!
