As book bans sweep the nation, one great way to push back is to read! And not just to read, but to come together in community around the books anti-LGBTQ+ reactionaries are trying to censor. With Vanessa Marie, we’re launching a monthly banned book club, starting this October with Daughters of Eve by Lois Duncan, banned multiple times from school libraries for addressing feminism and abortion.

With just 10 days after this month’s Spectrum Academy until Election Day, we’re overhauling the entire agenda. Join us at the Escalante Community Center on October 29 for a brand new storytelling exercise designed to build critical thinking around how we relate to the world around us and to bridge into a discussion and collective visioning activity about the political realities and futures of our communities. At the end of the event, we’ll spend time going through our voter guide, covering everything from ballot measures to voting rights to the roles and responsibilities of each office.
