Town Hall: Voting Rights in Arizona
5:00 pm - 6:00 pm April 13, 2022 | register
Join the Equality Arizona Foundation and the Office of the Secretary of State of Arizona for a live town hall on voting rights and election security in Arizona. We've seen a lot of bills proposed in the state legislature this session about how and when we vote, and with a major midterm election just around the corner, this town hall event will be a great opportunity to learn and understand what your rights are as a voter in Arizona, and how you can participate in the electoral process.
Learning the Political System: What is the History of the U.S. Government?
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm April 19, 2022 | register
Equality Arizona is dedicated to developing the civic knowledge and power of Arizona’s LGBTQ+ communities. In this workshop, we’ll cover the history of the U.S. government, uncovering the fundamental ideas behind the system and examining its founding documents. We’ll announce more workshops on civics and U.S. politics soon, so make sure to sign up for this event to catch the entire series!
Community Focus Group
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm April 20, 2022 | register
Arizona’s LGBTQ+ communities are diverse and beautiful, spanning every region, race, and religion in our state, and Equality Arizona recognizes that each of these communities has unique needs. On April 20, we’ll be hosting a community focus group for you to share with us what makes you unique, and how Equality Arizona can best support and empower your community.
Stories in Politics
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm April 26, 2022 | register
At Equality Arizona, we believe that policy should be about people. The wave of anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ+ legislation we’ve seen over the past decade is an example of policy that ignores people’s lived experiences to chase buzzwords and political trends, with devastating consequences. Join us for a storytelling event dedicated to helping you share your story to shape public policy and the policymaking conversation.
A More Equal Arizona
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm April 27, 2022 | register
Join Equality Arizona, Keshet, and Arizona Jews for Justice to discuss recent political developments in Arizona and to learn about Jewish values of inclusion and political action as they pertain to LGBTQ+ rights. Our panel will include Tanner Menard, Equality Arizona’s Organizing Manager, Shannon Saul, Keshet’s Community Mobilization Manager, and Eddie Chavez Calderon, the Campaign Director for Arizona Jews for Justice. Panelists from each organization will give an overview of the work their organizations perform and ways for attendees to take action in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality.
Volunteer at the Rainbows Festival
April 30 & May 1, 2022 | register
Join Equality Arizona & ONE Community in support of Equality and Fairness for All Americans (EQFFAA). The EQFFAA coalition believes there is a once in a decade opportunity to pass landmark legislation in advance of the midterm elections, to bring federal civil rights non-discrimination protections to millions of Americans in employment, education, housing, credit, jury service, and public accommodations. This will bring immediate relief to millions of Americans, including LGBTQ Americans, who live in fear of discrimination and have no legal recourse.
Volunteers will be collecting individual’s signatures electronically for our EQFFAA pledge. Please take a moment to read the pledge and mark your preferred shift(s). Coalition team members will be on hand to answer questions. Volunteer T-shirts will be provided.
