Action Alert: Support HB 2802 at Tomorrow's Hearing

On March 17th, 2022, the Arizona House of Representatives Will Hold a Historic-First Ad Hoc Committee Hearing on Nondiscrimination and Religious Freedom

On Thursday, March 17th, 2022 an Ad Hoc Committee will discuss HB 2802 to extend Arizona’s current non-discrimination protections to gay and transgender Arizonans in employment, housing and public accommodations and to ban the harmful practice of conversion therapy for licensed healthcare professionals, which has been denounced by every major medical association in the country.

This historic measure, sponsored by Rep. Amish Shah (LD24) and co-sponsored by Speaker Rusty Bowers (LD25), is the product of years of thoughtful dialogue between leading Arizona LGBTQ organizations, business leaders and communities of faith to support a bill aimed at updating the state’s non-discrimination law while also preserving religious freedom. The introduction of the bill also follows the passage of similar non-discrimination ordinances in Mesa, Glendale, Scottsdale and Tolleson in 2021.
